The board and staff of The Amphion Foundation note with great sadness the passing of ASCAP’s long-time Vice President and Head of Concert Music, Frances Richard on February 8, 2024. Fran was a stalwart champion of American contemporary music and its composers and performers for nearly 40 years. Regardless of whether a composer was affiliated with ASCAP or another society, all could rely on Fran’s expertise, good judgment and true devotion to the art and the artists she served so well. In addition to her work at ASCAP, she was also a mainstay of The American Music Center/New Music USA board and spent countless hours advancing the cause of contemporary American music in many other ways. We salute a great champion of our field and send our condolences to our family and her many friends.
